EPPD: Juarez motorcyclist killed after collision with tractor trailer
A motorcyclist from Juarez was killed when he collided into the rear of a 2016 Freightliner on Loop 375 in Far East El Paso.
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed 54-year-old Jose Leon Licea was riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, westbound on Loop 375.
Licea was on the Socorro overpass when he “failed to control his speed” and drove into the back of a 2016 Freightliner and trailer, driven by 53-year-old Juan Marquez, also of Juarez.
Police said Licea suffered “major injuries” when he was thrown off the motorcycle. Licea was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene.
Police said this is the 34th traffic fatality in 2018 compared to 35 at this time in 2017.
