EPPD: ‘Good Samaritan’ killed in overnight crash

El Paso police said a “Good Samaritan” was killed in a crash Wednesday night.

That man was identified as Bradford Drake, 59, of Chaparral, New Mexico.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on the 10900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, police said that Drake had pulled over to check on several people who were involved in a collision.

That collision involved a BMW driven by Sergio Martinez, 37, and two other vehicles. Martinez’s BMW had ended up in the middle of MLK Jr.

Police said Drake rolled up onto the wreck and had gotten out of his vehicle to talk to Martinez, who was standing by his car, when they were both hit by a car driven by Jennette Clayton, 33.

Police said Martinez and Drake both suffered serious injuries.

Drake was taken to UMC where he later died.

Martinez is being treated at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
