Convicted sex offender walks away from facility

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a convicted sex offender who walked away from a halfway house in Horizon.

Robert Barrientez left the El Paso Transitional Living Center at 1650 Horizon Boulevard on Aug. 8 and his whereabouts

are unknown, authorities said.

Barrientez is wanted on a parole violation. Sheriff’s officials said an additional charge of failure to register as a sex offender is forthcoming. He was originally imprisoned for sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

Sheriff’s officials said Barrientez may possibly be driving a 2001 Silver/gray Toyota Camry bearing Texas plates.
