SWAT Team called out to home in Far East El Paso

The El Paso Police SWAT Team was called out to a home in Far East El Paso after it was reported that a suicidal man with a weapon barricaded himself inside the home.

El Paso Police said officers responded to a call around 6 p.m. Friday evening to a residence on the 3700 block of Leticia Street.

According to police, a shot was fired but no one was injured. Police also said there are no other individuals inside the residence except for an unidentified male suspect.

The Crisis Management team have made contact with the suspect and are resuming negotiations.

“Our main goal is for the safety of the person and all persons around so we will definitely make every effort and take as much time as it needs to resolve that. It’s very hard for us to tell how long it could take,” Sgt. Robert Gomez said.

Neighbors in the area have been voluntarily evacuated.
