Police in Texas say remains found may be a missing 3-year-old girl
BRYAN, Texas (AP) – Authorities have found a child’s remains in freshly dug soil behind a Bryan, Texas house, and are performing an autopsy to confirm whether they match a missing girl.
The Bryan-College Station Eagle reports that Bryan police discovered the body while searching the area for 3-year-old Rayven Shields.
Authorities said police began searching for Shields this week after her mother, 35-year-old Virginia Ann Adams, became uncooperative with a Child Protective Services investigation into her welfare.
Adams was arrested Wednesday on a charge of interference with child custody, a state felony punishable by up to two years in a state jail and a fine up to $10,000. She was being held in the Brazos County Jail Saturday with bail set at $75,000. It was unclear whether she had an attorney.
