Police charge suspect with murder after man is found dead in Lower Valley canal

El Paso Police arrested a suspect in connection to the death of a man whose body was found floating in a canal.

On Friday, August 10, 2018, detectives charged Christopher Jorge Ramirez, 24, with Murder for the death of Saul Hernandez, 41.

Ramirez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $2-million bond, police said.

On Monday, August 6, 2018, police recovered Hernandez’s body from a canal on the 100 block of Pendale in the Lower Valley.

Police said an area resident found Hernandez’s body floating in the canal. At the time, police said Hernandez’s body had physical injuries considered “suspicious.”

Police did not reveal what led investigators to Ramirez. ABC-7 is working to learn more about the homicide investigation.
