LCPD: Woman cut herself breaking apartment window, punched paramedic tending bloodied hand
Police arrested a woman suspected of shattering a window at an apartment complex and then punching a paramedic tending to her bloodied hand.
29-year-old Alexa Monet Rodriguez, of the 9500 block of Butterfield, is charged with Battery Upon a Healthcare Worker, Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018, Rodriguez allegedly picked up a rock and used it to smash out the front window of an apartment at 1660 Missouri Ave.
Rodriguez cut her right hand when she broke the window, police said.
The woman then went to another apartment and demanded the occupants open the door. The people living in that unit called 911 and a responding Las Cruces police officer located Rodriguez nearby.
Police said a paramedic was attending to Rodriguez’s injured right hand when the woman used her left hand to punch the healthcare worker. The paramedic received a cut and bruising to his face.
Rodriguez was restrained and transported to Memorial Medical Center before being booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
Police say she is initially being held without bond.
