El Paso Fitness Festival draws thousands

Thousands attended the fourth annual LiveFit EP Fitness Festival in downtown El Paso Saturday.

El Paso is ranked as one of the least fit cities in America, and the organizers Lizzie and Shane Martinez said “We want to get El Paso off that list, and make El Paso a fit healthy city.”

The event is the largest sports expo, in the Southwest region with over 3000 attendees, and over 1,200 competitors in events including:

Atomic Strength Nutrition Desert Games: CrossFit-style Competition

Supplement Xpress Bodybuilding Championships- NPC National Qualifier

Complete Nutrition Battle of the Champions – International Karate Tournament

Desert Jiu Jitsu Championships

Iron Open – USA Powerlifting Meet

Southwest Strongest Man – United States Strongman World Qualifier

Krystal Trevizo was competing in the cross-fit style competition, she said, “It’s an invigorating, crazy endurance, mind-testing workout that we’re doing, and it’s not even one, it’s like up to four.” She said it was inspiring to see the whole community come together.

Spectators can cheer on the main events, sample tons of El Paso’s healthy food and drink options, visit with national supplement brands, stop by the Michelob Ultra Lounge, participate in Spike Ball Tournaments and even keep little ones busy in the Bahama Bucks Kids Zone.

The Festival is open until 10 P.M. at the El Paso Convention Center downtown. Tickets start at $9.50, Ages 10 and under free. NPC show tickets are $40 and $100 for VIP, both include daytime festival.
