El Paso police say homicide is linked to stabbing
Police say a homicide on east El Paso could be related to a stabbing that happened in the area Sunday morning.
“It was such a shock,” said Alexus Martinez, who has lived in the area for three months. “I kind of figured it was murder because of how many police officers had to come to the scene.”
Officers were asked to perform a welfare check at a home near Forest Ridge Lane and Vista Del Sol Drive at around 1:15 pm. Upon arrival, police say they discovered the body of an 18-year-old man with “trauma about the body.”
“We believe it may be related to an earlier stabbing,” said Sgt. Enrique Carrillo.
At 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, police responded to a stabbing at a Circle K just a block away, near Vista Del Sol Drive and Vista De Oro Drive.
“It’s scary now,” said Alejandro Torres, who has lived in the area for years. “I feel threatened.”
According to authorities, foul play is suspected and Crimes Against Persons is also investigating the incident.
“I was kind of shocked,” said Angel Torres, who has lived on Forest Ridge for several months. “When you hear a homicide, it’s like, ‘Wow.’
Police said there were a total of two victims: The man killed on Forest Ridge and man who was stabbed at the Circle K, but survived.
Martinez told ABC-7 she heard noise in the normally quiet neighborhood last night.
“I heard a lot of screaming and then I heard two cars screeching, going and coming out of the neighborhood,” Martinez said. “So, that was a little bit surprising because like I said, we never hear anything.”
