Dana Dimel has his first press conference as the Miners new Head Football Coach

Coach Dimel held his inaugural press conference as the UTEP Head Football Coach.

Everyone wanted to know if he had chosen a quarterback yet, but there was no clarity. Coach Dimel was the originator of the Wild Cat offense that features multiple quarterbacks that can run and throw. Depending on the situation they are in.

“If one guy is in there and having success, we are going to go with the guy with the hot hand” Dimel said.

At times the Wild Cat will have a running back behind center taking the snap.

Dimel explained how he gauges the opposing teams defense and puts together a game plan off of that.

His son Winston Dimel who plays fullback was brought up in the press conference. It seems coach will feed him the ball at times as well but his job is to make other successful.

Coach Dimel said, “To me we need to establish a good running game and the running backs are going to have to make people miss.”
