Club Hush in Northeast El Paso shut down ‘indefinitely’
The County Attorney’s Office announced Thursday authorities shut down Club Hush “indefinitely.”
The after-hours club “has been a recurrent source of criminal activity,” the County Attorney’s Office said.
Club Hush is located at 8216 Dyer Street. Authorities reportedly received information indicating Club Hush remained open after 2 a.m. on the weekends. “Criminal activity was said to occur habitually,” the County Attorney’s Office said.
An investigation allegedly led to the discovery of evidence the owners of the club violated the Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code.
El Paso Police reportedly responded to Club Hush 15 times over a five month period, the County Attorney’s Office said. Among the calls police investigated: aggravated assault, shots fired and murder.
In mid-July 2018, El Paso Police issued an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Ahmond Shariff Williams for the murder of 32-year-old Demarquiz Quintev Smith. The victim, a resident of Fort Bliss, Texas, was shot and killed outside Club Hush, police said. At the time, police said Williams, who is not originally from El Paso, had not been arrested.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed Smith was exiting the club parking lot in a vehicle, when shots were fired at Smith’s vehicle. The victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to William Beaumont Army Medical Center by a private party. He later died at the hospital.
