SISD has new carry-in policies for fans at the SAC

The Socorro Independent School is instituting new policies on what fans can bring into the Student Activities Complex, or SAC.

The district is putting up signs at the entrances and showing fans what they can and cannot bring into the stadium.

Items fans can carry-in include binoculars, cameras, personal bags, items related to medical conditions, service animals and other items listed on the sign.

Items fans cannot carry-in include umbrellas, water bottles, outside food and drinks, alcohol, weapons of any kind and other items also listed on the signs.

District safety officials told ABC-7 the new policies are intended to keep members of the crowd and players alike safe.

The district is starting soft-implementation of the policies at Friday night’s Eastlake v. Coronado game.

“Please get there early,” Ismael Castro, the district’s Emergency Operations, said. ” Buy…tickets early and then get there early because what we’ve seen in the past is obviously folks wait to the last minute and their in line and they have to go through the security checkpoint to get into the facility and so make…get there earlier and buy their tickets earlier.”

Friday night’s game will start at 7 p.m. and the highlights will be on ABC-7’s Borderland Blitz.
