YISD acknowledges it did not warn parents about rape case at Parkland Middle

A spokesman with the Ysleta Independent School District on Wednesday confirmed to ABC-7 the district did not warn parents about a rape investigation at Parkland Middle School.

A 12-year-old girl says she was raped by a man inside a stall in the girl’s locker room after practice. The girl told her mother she had previously seen the man who raped her walking around the school.

The mother told ABC-7 it took El Paso Police several days to respond after she first reported the rape.

ABC-7 spoke with a single father raising three girls in the Parkland Middle School area. The man, who did not want to be identified, said he is disappointed by the district’s response. “I’m pissed. I’m raising three girls by myself. There are no statutory limits on rape, so they need to figure out what the hell is going on in this district,” the father said.

El Paso Police and YISD have not released any information on a possible suspect. The girl described the alleged rapist as a “chubby and short” Hispanic man with short black hair in a fade. The girl said the man had a tattoo on his belly that appeared to be an “eye with a spider.”

The father who spoke with ABC-7 said his daughters told him boys at the school were being pulled out of class to be questioned. Some boys were reportedly asked if they had tattoos on their stomach.

“It’s supposed to be a closed campus with security. Where’s the security at? I will go (expletive) on this school if they can’t figure out what their security is,” the father said.

The district told ABC-7 no students were pulled from class for interviews.
