Charges pending in deadly hit-and-run

Criminal charges are pending against the driver who hit and killed an 80-year-old man who was crossing a street.

The crash happened on the 12100 block of Socorro Road at 7:30 PM Monday.

Deputies say the driver left the scene, but was later located. The driver was not identified by authorities.

The elderly victim, identified as Oscar Valverde Gonzalez, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say he was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Officials say criminal charges are pending.
