Texas Tech confirms charity scrimmage vs. UTEP men’s basketball team

Texas Tech confirmed Wednesday that they will host the UTEP men’s basketball team in a scrimmage for charity in Lubbock on Nov. 1.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the families of victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting. Eight students and two teachers were killed in May of this year when a gunman opened fire at the Houston-area high school.

Tickets to the game at the United Supermarkets Arena cost $10 each. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT.

The Miners have another scrimmage at Grand Canyon on Saturday before traveling to Lubbock.

The team opens the regular season at home on Nov. 6 against UT Permian Basin before traveling to Las Cruces to take on rival New Mexico State three days later.

The Miners also have non-conference games against Arizona, New Mexico, and Marquette this season.
