Online threat against Socorro HS investigated
The Socorro Independent School District confirmed that its officers are investigating a threat made online, seemingly against Socorro High School.
A parent called ABC-7 Monday morning after receiving an automated call from the SHS principal. In the recorded message, the principal said there was an investigation into an online threat of someone going to the school with a gun.
SISD spokesman Daniel Escobar said the threat was anonymous and they are working to prove whether it was valid. Meantime, district protocol surrounding threats of violence to students on campus calls for the district to inform parents of the threat and investigation.
Escobar said they have additional police at the school and are not altering the schedule, but acknowledged that some parents may choose to keep their children at home.
