Men’s Basketball: Cal Baptist shocks NMSU in WAC play

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team has to work to do in conference play after losing their WAC opener on the road at Cal Baptist.

The Lancers, who joined the WAC this year, gave their fans something to remember by toppling the conference favorites, 82-76.

Milan Acquaah stole the show for Cal Baptist, erupting for 36 points, aided by a perfect 13-13 performance from the line

Terrell Brown led NMSU with 22 points and was 11-11 from the charity stripe himself.

The Lancers raced out to a 28-11 lead in the first half, only to watch NMSU cut that lead down to three points early in the second half.

But Acquaah continually provided big baskets for his team, as Cal Baptist moved to 9-5 overall on the year.

NMSU fell to 11-4 overall and will now have to get ready for a game against Grand Canyon at home on Thursday, Jan. 10.
