76th Annual Golden Globes: What you need to know
Awards season has finally arrived!
The first major award show of 2019 kicks off tonight with the 76th annual Golden Globe awards.
Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s award show.
First off, who’s hosting?
TV stars Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh will split the hosting duties tonight in what will be each of their first times emceeing the golden globes. Oh is nominated for best actress in a TV drama for her performance in “Killing Eve.”
What about film favorites?
The musical romance-drama “A Star is Born” is up for several of the most prominent awards at Sunday’s show.
Lady Gaga is considered the front-runner for best actress in a drama for her role as Ally in the film.
Bradley Cooper has also received considerable buzz in the best actor in a drama category.
The field for best drama film is pretty intense this year, with the groundbreaking “Black Panther” up against “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “A Star is Born,” “BlackkKlansman” and the critically beloved “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
As for the favorites for best musical or comedy?
“Green Book” and “the Favourite” enter as favorites in a field that also includes “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Vice” and “Mary Poppins Returns.”
What about the TV category?
Well, fresh off their wins at last year’s golden globes, Rachel Brosnahan and her show “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” enter as favorites for tonight’s award show.
