UPDATE: Suspect arrested after SWAT standoff in East El Paso

One suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after an hours-long SWAT standoff on the eastside.

The incident happened on the 7200 block of Dempsey, blocks away from Burges High School.

The El Paso Police Department’s Crisis Management Team was responding to a family violence call around 8:40 p.m.

A spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department said no one else was inside the home with the barricaded suspect.

Officers did not confirm what happened leading up to the SWAT standoff.

No injuries were reported.
