Father of EPteacher killed by undocumented hit-and-run driver to appear with Trump onstage

The father of an El Paso teacher killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver illegally told Fox & Friends Monday morning he plans to join President Trump at his county coliseum rally.

Dan Ferguson said he has lived in between 45 and 50 years in El Paso. “The wall is a great deterrent to illegal immigration. Before the wall, El Paso was a dangerous place, because I was raised here, we had about 50 cars stolen every week, about 500 every week, taken down into Juarez to chop shops, there were gangs in the schools, there were drugs flowing across,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson said that if one of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s or Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s would have been killed by an “illegal alien” they would have “already approved funding for a border wall.”

Ferguson also said neither former El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke and current Congresswoman Veronica Escobar have yet to reach out to him in the wake of his daughter’s death. “They don’t mention anything about protection for American citizens but they advocate rights for illegal aliens.”

In November 2018, El Paso police arrested and charged 24-year old Joel Velazquez, in the country illegally, with Accident Involving Death for the Thanksgiving Day 2018 hit-and-run death of Amanda Weyant Ferguson, El Paso Police said.

Velazquez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $150,000. Police said Velasquez struck and killed Weyant at 1:45 a.m. on November 22, 2018 at Mesa and Cincinnati, police said. Weyant was using a crosswalk when she was struck, police said.

The vehicle suspected of striking Weyant, a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, was abandoned farther east on the 1300 block of Cincinnati, police said. The vehicle had damage to its hood and a shattered windshield. Investigators dusted the vehicle for fingerprints and traced the vehicle back to Velasquez.

Velasquez had previously been deported from the U.S.
