Men’s Basketball: NMSU cruises past Chicago State in WAC quarterfinals
The New Mexico State men’s basketball team made quick work of Chicago State Thursday in the WAC Tournament quarterfinals.
NMSU saw 12 different players score in a dominant 86-49 win – their third over the Cougars this season.
Forward Eli Chuha paced the Aggies with 14 points and six rebounds while guard Terrell Brown added 13 points in the victory.
The win means NMSU will advance to the tourney semifinals Friday at 7 p.m. MT where they will meet UT Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), which defeated CSU Bakersfield Thursday.
The Aggies have now won 17 consecutive games since their last loss, which came in their WAC regular season opener in early January at Cal Baptist.
NMSU is now 28-4 overall on the year while Chicago State wraps up its season with a 3-29 mark.
NMSU’s total of 28 wins this season matches the program record also achieved in 2016-17 and 2017-18. So, a win Friday would give the Aggies a new record for wins in a single season.
