Traffic stop allegedly yields meth and marijuana; 2 men charged

A traffic stop in southeast El Paso County led to the arrest of two men and seizure of meth and marijuana, the sheriff’s office said.

Antonio Perez, 38, and Raul Enrique Garcia, 56, were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charges of Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.

The San Elizario Marshal’s Office conducted a traffic stop on the 13200 block of Socorro Road after a the driver of a Ford Expedition failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

A search of the vehicle by the San Elizario Deputy Marshal allegedly led to the discovery of 48 bundles of marijuana and 47 bundles of methamphetamine, resulting in the arrest of the two occupants: Perez and Garcia.

After the arrests, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit took over the investigation. Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 1000 block of Oscar Chacon in San Elizario , Texas. The search allegedly yielded an additional nine ounces of marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, investigators were able to seize 77 pounds of methamphetamine and 57 pounds of marijuana, officials said.
