Chihuahuas stay hot and complete sweep against Reno

The El Paso Chihuahuas held on for a 4-3 win in a day game on Monday to complete a four-game sweep against the Reno Aces.

The Chihuahuas have now won 10 of their last 11 games to move to 11-7 overall on the season. That’s quite a turnaround after they began the year with a 1-6 record.

The Chihuahuas got solo homers from Austin Allen and Peter Van Gansen as well as RBI doubles from Luis Urias and Josh Naylor in the winning effort.

After taking a 4-1 lead into the top of the ninth, things got a little more interesting when Reno managed to score two runs to cut it to a 4-3 game.

They had the tying run on second later in the inning but Juniel Querecuto would fly out to right field to end the game.

The Dogs will have Tuesday off before beginning a five-game series at Las Vegas on Wednesday. Las Vegas took four of five games at Southwest University Park to begin the season, so the Chihuahuas will look to return the favor later this week.
