Hundreds participate in March for Babies fundraiser

Hundreds of people walked the annual March for Babies fundraiser Saturday morning at the El Paso Community College Valle Verde campus.

March for Babies is one of the biggest March for Dimes fundraisers.

“Now more than ever, moms and babies need a champion. The March for Babies community joins together to support families and build a brighter future for us all. “

Malinda De La Luz and her family marched for her daughter, Victoria, who was born at 27 weeks with an unknown muscle weakness.“It was really hard. Some days me and my husband thought ‘why us’ but we saw how strong she was and we couldn’t give up, so we just kept fighting along with her like we do to this day,” Malinda said.

This is the third year Malinda and her family have walked this fundraiser.

“This is for team Batgirl. Our hope is eventually she will be able to walk, but for now we support her every year,” Malinda said.

March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy so that every baby can have the best possible start.
