Loop 375 reopens in both directions following suicide attempt that prompted closure
EL PASO, Texas -- Police said they closed Loop 375 north at Bob Hope and south at Vista Del Sol, snarling traffic late Friday morning, due to what they labeled a "jumper" incident.
Authorities described the situation, which happened shortly before 11 a.m., as an apparent suicide attempt and said one person was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after jumping off the highway.
At one point, northbound traffic was backed up all the way to Interstate-10 and the southbound back-up was to Vista Del Sol. It took police a couple of hours to clear the scene entirely.
As of about 1:30 p.m., police indicated that Loop 375 had fully reopened both north and southbound.
