El Paso Locomotive fall to San Antonio FC, 3-1

The El Paso Locomotive haven’t won a game in more than a month, but on Wednesday the Locomotive returned home to the friendly confines of Southwest University Park.

Unfortunately, not even the home crowd was enough to get the Locomotive back on the winning track as the Locomotive lost to San Antonio FC by a final score of 3-1.

In the first meeting between the two teams that was played in San Antonio, neither team could get a goal, but that wasn’t the case Wednesday night.

San Antonio FC would strike first in the 8th minute following a goal by Frank Lopez.

Lopez found the back of the net after the ball was deflected off El Paso’s goalkeeper.

In the 28th minute, El Paso would get on the board courtesy of a goal by Andrew Fox, but that would be short lived as San Antonio FC would get another goal in stoppage time right before the half.

The game was delayed for about 40 minutes at the start of the second half because of lighting, and once it resumed San Antonio would get one more goal to seal the deal and give them the 3-1 victory.

El Paso’s record falls to 7-5-7.

The Locomotive will have to wait until Saturday to hopefully get a back in the win column when they face Real Monarchs SLC (Salt Lake City) at Southwest University Park.

Wednesday night’s game was also special for former UTEP quarterback, Rock Perez.

Perez attended the game to cheer on his son, who at just 15 years old, plays soccer for San Antonio FC.
