Documentary Screening Planned for 29th Anniversary of Americans With Disabilities Act

On July 25, 2019 Volar Center for Independent living, in partnership with Texas Department of Transportation, Emergence Health Network, Project Amistad and the Arc of El Paso will be hosting an event celebrating the 29th anniversary of the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act. During the event El Pasoans with and without disabilities will have the opportunity to learn about different supports and services available in El Paso, and be the first to see the inspiring film from Dan Habib entitled Intelligent Lives. Immediately following the movie, there will be a panel consisting of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who will describe how they overcame prejudices to become thriving members in our community. Two showings of Intelligent Lives are scheduled. The first is at noon at the Project Amistad offices at 3210 Dyer. The second is at 6:00 p.m. at the El Paso Independent School District at 6500 Boeing, Suite K. The screening is free of charge, but you must RSVP to attend by calling (915) 591-0800.
