Semi-trucks jackknifed along I-10 in 3 different El Paso locations due to rain

Interstate 10 was blocked for much of Saturday morning at three separate locations due to jackknifed tractor-trailer rigs following rain that slickened the pavement, according to El Paso police.

All westbound lanes at Paisano were closed through midday due to a diesel spill from a jackknifed semi-truck there Special equipment had to be brought in by hazmat crews for cleanup.

Police said there were also delays on the eastbound side “due to rubbernecking.”

Elsewhere, a collision of two semi-trucks resulted in the temporary closure of westbound lanes of I-10 at downtown. And yet a third incident blocked left lanes eastbound at Artcraft.

All three wrecks were first reported around 5 a.m., but no injures were said to have occurred in any of the crashes.

Slick road conditions due to overnight rainfall in the Borderland were believed to be a contributing factor in all three incidents.
