Woman in U-haul leads police on high-speed chase in northeast El Paso that included gunfire

A woman driving a U-Haul rental truck led state troopers on a high-speed chase that included gunfire along the streets of northeast El Paso before a local business owner intervened, triggering a crash to end the ordeal.

It all began when El Paso police and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers tried to pull the U-Haul over along Railroad Avenue, but authorities said the woman fled and struck a DPS vehicle in her escape.

The U-Haul headed the wrong-way with police in pursuit along Hercules, Hondo Pass and Dyer — and at one point a DPS trooper fired at the truck’s tires in an effort to try to stop it.

The chase ultimately came to an end when witnesses said the owner of Dyer Audio pulled out in front of the U-Haul in his business SUV and caused the woman to crash along Dyer Street near Yvette Avenue. (Listen to an interview with him in the video player below.)
