4,000 guests given free admission to Wet N’ Wild for ‘El Paso Strong Wellness Day’

Wet N’ Wild Water World is doing their part to help El Pasoans cope with the tragic events of Aug. 3.

Last week, the water park offered 4-thousand people the chance to sign up for free entrance to the park this Sunday for their ‘El Paso Strong Wellness Day.’

The response was overwhelming.

“We got a lot of people really thanking us and saying they really appreciated it,” said Chandra Edwards-Cottingham, One of the owners of Wet N’ Wild.

The free event was posted on Wet N’ Wild’s Facebook page last Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday morning, the maximum number of sign ups had already been reached.

The event is Wet N’ Wild’s way of showing their support to the victims and the community as well.

The park has already donated $10,000 to help the victims, but any proceeds made from burger sales this Sunday will also be donated to the El Paso Community Foundation.

Park officials hope that this Sunday’s wellness day will help families decompress and enjoy time with their loved ones stress free.

“Kids, they still deserve a place to be kids, and families they still need a place to come together and to celebrate what’s important in life which is being with your family,” said Edwards-Cottingham.

The El Paso Youth Symphony Orchestra will be playing a set at Sunday’s event and other free services will be offered to those who attend.

“We will also have El Paso Mental Health services. They’ll be giving out information. It’ll be an additional resource for people who need additional help. We’re also going to have a hug squad. They’ll be giving out free hugs. They were personally impacted by the shooting and they wanted to help out the community and just basically give everybody a big hug,” said Edwards-Cottingham.

Although the sign up for free entrance is over, there’s still room for people to come in at the regular ticket price. Click here for ticket information.
