Fire destroys Hatch Chile Sales building in Hatch

HATCH, New Mexico -- Crews with Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services said a fire late Saturday evening destroyed the building housing Hatch Chile Sales.

Owner Peter Atencio said Hatch Chile Sales had been in operation since 1986 at the location at 265 W. Hall Street.

The fire broke out about 7:10 p.m. Saturday, according to Doña Ana County Fire Chief Nick Hempel.

There were no injuries reported, but the building is said to be a total loss. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
