Anderson Township (WLWT) — Authorities now say a student who fabricated claims of sex assault against her teacher faces charges.

The 13-year-old Anderson High School student is charged with making false alarms, a misdemeanor.

Officials said the female student was officially charged Oct. 15. She is not in custody and will appear in juvenile court at a later date, investigators said.

The 13-year-old girl claimed a male teacher grabbed her right arm, unzipped her hoodie and grabbed her breasts, according to a police report. The student told school officials it happened inside the teacher’s classroom during a class break.

But following an investigation, officials with the Sheriff’s Office said there was no wrongdoing and that the female student made up the entire incident.

The accused teacher is cleared to return to teaching after spending two and a half weeks on leave. District officials confirmed the teacher has been teaching at Anderson High School for more than 20 years. He was hired by the district in 1996.
