Young El Paso Cowboys fan receives letter from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones
EL PASO, Texas -- Carlos De La Torre loves the Dallas Cowboys, whether they win or lose.
At just 6 years old, De La Torre has dreams of one day being the head coach of the Cowboys.
But until then, he first has to make it through kindergarten.
It was back in October when De La Torre was a little upset that the Cowboys had lost two straight games.
He expressed his frustration to his kindergarten teacher at Barron Elementary School, Martha Tavarez.
Tavarez helped him gather his thoughts and write them down.
Through the process De La Torre came up with some tips he felt could help the Cowboys.
De La Torre and Tavarez worked together to write a letter to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
Included in that letter were the tips that De La Torre had come up with.
Some of those tips included, giving the ball more to running back Ezekiel Elliott, throwing the ball to wide receiver Michael Gallop, and even possibly recruiting former UTEP running back Aaron Jones to the Cowboys.
The letter was sent to the Cowboys organization, but Tavarez admits she really wasn't expecting a response.
About two weeks later, Tavarez had a package in her mailbox.
It was a letter from Jerry Jones, but that wasn't all that was included in the package.
The Cowboys had sent De La Torre an autographed photo of Jerry Jones, a game day program, and an autographed pennant.
De La Torre's entire class was also sent some Cowboys merchandise.
The class was given temporary Cowboys tattoos, some pens and also bracelets.
Tavarez says she encourages her class to write letters because it shows them the importance of reading and writing.
