Juarez virus cases surpass 500 mark, deaths hold at 113

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Juarez surpassed a milestone mark on Monday as the death toll held steady, health officials said.

The caseload rose to 507, officials indicated, up 20 cases from 487 the day prior; virus deaths remained at 113 - unchanged from the weekend.

Across the state of Chihuahua, there were a total of 815 cases - up 31 from the day prior - and 144 deaths as of Monday.

Over the weekend, health officials indicated they were now seeing a surge in new infections and a growing death toll in the city of Chihuahua. The capital city's case count tallied 238 on Monday with 24 fatalities.
