El Paso sees 1 new virus death; hospitalizations reach another all-time high

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health announced one new coronavirus death Monday, as well as an increase in hospitalizations that again set a new all-time high.

The death toll now stands at 128.

The department identified the latest victim as a woman in her 60s with underlying health conditions.

Hospitals in El Paso are treating their most patients yet, with 149 patients in the hospital as of Monday morning. Of those, 64 were in intensive care, and 28 people were on ventilators.

Active cases also continued to climb, as more than 131 new cases were reported Monday.

El Paso County is now reporting 1,932 active infections throughout El Paso.

Recoveries in the county also went up, with 3,685 people now listed as having recovered from the virus.
