HORIZON CITY, Texas -- Ricardo Estrada Middle School in Horizon City was on lockdown for a couple of hours Wednesday.

Horizon police asked that the school be placed on lockdown due to an off-campus incident that apparently involved a barricaded man.

No further details were provided by either police or the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, which were both involved in handling the situation. It was later resolved and the lockdown was lifted.

While there were no students at the school due to remote learning, teachers and other staff were there when the lockdown occurred.
