NAMI El Paso’s NAMIWalks 5K happening Saturday at Ascarate Park

NAMI El Paso is holding its annual NAMIWalks 5K at Ascarate Park this weekend. It’s the first time the event will be held at the park and organizers re hoping the community comes out to show support for Mental Health awareness.

In the past years, the annual 5k walk has taken place at Memorial Park in central El Paso, but this years walk will take place at Ascarate Park in El Paso’s lower valley.

NAMIWalks is a nationwide event with over 80 walks happening across the nation throughout the year. This year marks the ninth year of the walk here in El Paso.

NAMIWalks El Paso hopes to spread a message of hope for those who fear seeking help for mental health issues.

The walk is family friendly and registration is free for the event, but participants are encouraged to raise funds. All the funds raised from NAMIWalks El Paso stay in the El Paso community and help continue NAMI El Paso’s mission to provide advocacy, public awareness, support and education so that all individuals living with mental health conditions and their families can build better lives.

This year’s run will take place at Ascarate Park located at 6900 Delta Dr. on Saturday September 21st. Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. The walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
