Horizon woman arrested for allegedly dragging dogs with her car

A Horizon woman has been arrested on animal cruelty charges following allegations that “she had dragged her two dogs with her vehicle,” the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Ericka Ivonne Pacheco was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility earlier this week on two counts of cruelty to a non-livestock animal.

Detectives said the charges stem from what they described as a “traffic incident” in the 14400 block of Golden Eagle Drive back in February of this year. Authorities did not elaborate, but indicated an arrest warrant was finally issued last week following a lengthy investigation.

“As a result of the injuries sustained, the dogs were euthanized,” a sheriff’s spokesperson said.
