Las Cruces man seriously injured after being ejected from pickup during crash
A 22-year-old man has suffered serious injuries from a crash in Las Cruces, according to police. Police said it happened shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday near Calle Abuelo in the Sonoma Ranch East neighborhood.
Investigators said that the man was driving a GMC Sierra with a woman as his passenger. Police said the man was speeding south on Calle Abuelo when it appeared that he lost control of the truck. According to police, the truck left the roadway, crashing into a light pole and rolled into an arroyo. Investigators said the man was ejected upon impact. He was taken to a local hospital and although police said his injuries were serious, they appeared to be non-life-threatening.
The passenger, a 28-year-old woman, walked away at the crash and police said they located her at her home a few blocks away.
