Sunday Funday Moment: El Paso Firefighters create their own ‘Git Up Challenge’ video

Members of the El Paso Fire Department among several other Fire departments participated in the first ever Borderland 100 Club 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Saturday morning.

Firefighters, other law enforcement departments, family members and friends climbed 110 stories plus 22 steps to honor the victims of 9/11 and the victims of the August 3rd shooting that happened here in El Paso.

Today’s Sunday Funday Moment honors the hard work that our local law enforcement men and women do for our community.

It also shows that through tragedy and grief we are all still able to spread joy and laughter once again.

For the Firemen of Station 20, that form of joy comes in a viral dance challenge called ‘The Git Up Challenge.’

The challenge has gone viral since country rap singer, Blanco Brown, first released a tutorial on YouTube in May.

Fire Medic Raul Montoya shared the video Thursday on his Facebook page and it has since been liked and viewed hundreds of times.

This video features Montoya, Lieutenant Marcos Guerra, Fire Fighter Victor Lucero, and Fire Paramedic Ryan Mielke.

In the post, Raul wrote, “Waited till after 9/11 to post. You might knock us down, but WE will never give up.”
