El Paso reports 1 virus death, 8 new cases

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health announced one coronavirus-related death and eight new cases Wednesday morning.

El Paso County's pandemic death toll now stands at 2,623 with the death of a man in his 70s. There are still 12 additional suspected Covid-19 deaths currently being investigated by the health department.

El Paso health department data shows that 57.8% of El Pasoans 12 and older are now fully vaccinated, with 71.5% having received at least one dose.

The number of known active cases now stands at 581.

There are 49 Covid-19 patients in El Paso hospitals, with 16 of those patients in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 136,267 confirmed virus cases in El Paso with 132,972 reported recoveries.
