Former UTEP star forward Bryson Williams transfers to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas - After two hyper-productive seasons with the UTEP Miners, Bryson Williams officially has his third and final home.

Williams announced his commitment to Texas Tech Sunday, where he will spend his extra year year of NCAA eligibility playing for recently promoted head coach Mark Adams and the Red Raiders.

Williams announced his intention to transfer from UTEP in April, after former UTEP coach Rodney Terry left the Miners for an assistant coaching position with the University of Texas. Williams and Terry's relationship dated back to Fresno State, where Williams spent his first year of college eligibility playing for the then-Fresno State head coach.

When Terry took the UTEP head coaching job in 2018, Williams came with him.

The Fresno, CA native didn't disappoint in his two years in El Paso. He started all 32 games of the 2019-20 season, leading the team in points (571) and total rebounds (229) en route to a First Team All-Conference USA selection.

Williams followed that with another All-Conference effort in 2020-21, averaging 15.1 points per contest.
