LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Police searched unsuccessfully with dogs along the New Mexico State University campus on Monday night for a wanted fugitive.

University police said a man wanted for a robbery and shooting fled the scene of a nearby traffic stop at Union and Stewart and they suspected he might hide on campus.

Authorities said they didn't find the man, but they urged those on campus to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activity to NMSU police at 575-646-3311.
