Police say no charges in northeast El Paso boy’s shooting of brother with BB gun
UPDATE, July 14: Police on Wednesday released new details about a boy who was shot and wounded with a BB gun over the weekend in northeast El Paso.
Investigators said a 16-year-old shot his 12-year-old brother in what was apparently an accident. As a result, no charges have been filed, police indicated.
The BB gun shooting happened Saturday in the 4600 block of Harcourt Drive. Officers said the 12-year-old was found unconscious after being shot.
ORIGINAL REPORT, July 10: EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso boy believed to be 12 years old was shot and seriously wounded with a BB gun late Saturday afternoon, prompting a criminal investigation.
The incident happened about 4:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of Harcourt Drive in northeast El Paso.
The shooting victim was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center with what first-responders described as serious injuries.
The El Paso police Crime Scene Unit was summoned to the shooting scene and red crime tape was put up by officers.
No further details were available from authorities on Saturday evening.
