2 brothers arrested for viral video showing men randomly shooting along El Paso freeway
EL PASO, Texas -- Police arrested two brothers Monday night following a viral video that circulated on social media (see it in the video player at the top of this article) showing two men randomly shooting while driving on an El Paso freeway.
Josue Efrain Macias, 21 and Ruben Armando Macias, 23, were charged with discharge of a firearm in the city limits and police indicated additional charges were pending. The pair were being held Tuesday in the downtown jail under $25,000 bond each.
Their arrests came after a SWAT team and the police gang unit served search warrants at their home in the 5300 block of Beautonne in northeast El Paso. Police said they found several firearms and drugs inside their home.
The video showing the men shooting was posted by FitFamEP on Facebook. The anonymous account touts itself as "El Paso's #1 social media account."
In the video, you can see someone's hand holding a gun out of a car window and firing several shots. The person holding the camera then pans over to the driver, who also fires several shots from another gun out their window.
Even though no one was apparently hit and hurt in the freeway gunfire incident, discharging a weapon in any city is an arrestable offense, said Adrian Cisneros, a public information officer for the El Paso Police Department.
Investigation is continuing further information ,names of arrestees, and charges to be released at later time. https://t.co/oUwEHs464P
