Thousands turn out for Thanksgiving Sun Bowl parade

EL PASO, Texas- Thousands of El Pasoan's came out Thursday for the 85th Annual Thanksgiving Day Sun Bowl Parade.

Even though the weather was cold and rainy, that did not stop parade-goers from celebrating. Bundled up in blankets and beanies, and even watching through windows - anything to see the excitement outside.

An official for the Sun Bowl Association told ABC-7 that attendance was about the same as parades had drawn pre-covid.

Many families told ABC-7 that they had camped out just to get a good viewing spot along the parade route.

Local vendors said they lost money not being able to sell at last year's cancelled parade, but were excited to get back to one of their biggest events of the year.

“We're very united as a city and we're glad to be here because we didn’t have it last year. But as you can tell everybody still came out even with the weather,” said Melissa Fierro, a parade spectator.
