El Paso Zoo asking for public’s help naming baby giraffe

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Obi, Dakari, or Tesoro? The El Paso Zoo is asking the public to weigh in on the name for the new baby giraffe. The zoo shared a link to the survey on its Facebook page. The zoo has already narrowed down the choices to three names.

Mom Gigi gave birth to the boy on April 19, 2023. Zookeepers say he's adjusting well to life at the zoo. He's not on exhibit yet, to give him time to bond with mom first.

Zookeepers describe the baby as curious and energetic. He was born standing 6 feet tall.

ABC-7 got an inside look at the little guy just a few days after his birth.
