Five artists expected to work on new mural for El Paso County Healing Garden

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Today, the names of five artists set to work on the El Paso County Healing Garden will be revealed by county officials. They will all add their pieces to the southern wall of the Healing Garden at Ascarate Park.

This mural work is part of Phase II of the project, and multiple artists were invited to put forward proposals -- all centered around a theme of healing, positivity -- and bi-nationality.

County Judge Ricardo Samaniego will host a press conference today, announcing which five were selected -- after a call went out to muralists for proposals for the project. The Healing Garden is a National Memorial to the lives lost and impacted by the August 3rd shooting.

“This project will promote unity and solidarity come the 5th Anniversary of August 3rd, 2024, when the mural is revealed,” said County Judge Ricardo Samaniego.

A resolution will also be read during the El Paso County Commissioners Court meeting, honoring these artists.
