The timing could not be worse. With the Democratic Republic of Congo facing its “largest Ebola outbreak ever reported,” health workers are threatening to walk off the job after months of unpaid labor.

Friday’s jobs report probably will show that the labor market remains stable, but some worry the lull in teen hiring this summer could serve as the proverbial “canary in the coal mine.”
