Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp all go down in major outage

EL PASO, Texas -- Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp all suffered a major outage Monday morning.

The website DownDetector.com indicated it had received widespread reports of outages, which began at 9:41 a.m. Mountain time.

Those trying to visit all three social media sites received server error messages.

There was no immediate word as to the cause of the outage or when those sites will be operational again.

All three sites are owned by Facebook and operate on the same infrastructure.
